Successful first BYCROSS case in Bulgaria!

Happy to announce a fantastic first case in Bulgaria at Losenetz University Hospital in Sofia, performed by Dr. Asen Todorov. A long SFA–POP CTO was treated via a contralateral approach using BYCROSS after passage of the wire through the occlusion was not possible.

Endoluminal wire passage failed due to a strong proximal cap, so BYCROSS was used without a guidewire to break the proximal cap and enable endoluminal access for the remainder of the occlusion. Three additional BYCROSS passages were then performed over-the-wire (OTW), and a DCB was used to finalize the procedure. Very fast flow was observed and no stent was implanted.

The patient will be monitored to evaluate the potential need for a second treatment in the BTK vessels.

Special thanks to the entire team — Dr. Asen Todorov, Dr. Bistra Boneva, Dr. Stefan Manasiev and Dr. Margaret Dimova — for the excellent organization, professionalism and hospitality.
